Friends groups

Friends groups

A friends group is a team of local volunteers who dedicate their time and knowledge to improving their local park or open space. Anyone can join and you don't need to live nearby or commit to a specific amount of time.

Activities

Friends groups work with our Clean, Safe and Green team to suggest and plan improvements for parks and open spaces. They also help secure funding for projects and take part in hands-on activities such as bulb planting and clearing overgrown.

Join a friends group

We welcome volunteers of all ages. You can join existing friends groups or start a new one. By joining a friends group you can:

  • help make your park more attractive
  • have a say about its facilities
  • improve the park's biodiversity
  • make it safer
  • meet new people
  • stay active and healthy
  • make a real difference to your local area.
