Chipperfield Common
Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspaces - Chipperfield Common

Chipperfield Common is the largest woodland in Dacorum, covering 47.5 hectares. It is located in the village of Chipperfield, in the south west of the borough.
It is a great place to enjoy nature and the countryside. There are many paths to explore, including an Easy Access Route.
Chipperfield Common has a long history, with records dating back to 1066. Most of the woodland has grown naturally over time as people stopped grazing livestock there.
Some of the biggest trees are between 80 and 180 years old. The Common - which has Green Flag status - also has two burial mounds, dating from the Early Bronze Age (2300 BC to 1000 BC). Both are protected as Scheduled Ancient Monuments.
There are also eight veteran Sweet Chestnut trees, estimated to be around 400 years old.
