Dropped kerb enforcement

Dropped kerb enforcement

What we can do

We can issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) to drivers for parking across a dropped kerb.

How to report the issue

To report a vehicle blocking a dropped kerb:

You (the affected resident) must confirm your name and address, and sign a consent form when our enforcement officer visits.

Please note: If permission is not given or if you’re not present, then no action will be taken. A PCN will only be issued if the vehicle is blocking access, not just parked close to the dropped kerb.

If you need to report an issue outside of our office hours (8.45am to 5.15pm, Monday to Friday), call the police on 101.

What we can't do

We do not have the power to:

  • remove vehicles
  • enforce on private property.

Exemptions

We will not be able to take action against vehicles:

  • In designated parking places (or any other part of the carriageway where parking is authorised)
  • Used by the fire, ambulance or police services
  • Used for loading and unloading
  • Used for waste collection, road, sewage and utilities works.

Dropped kerbs in Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs)

How to report the issue

If you live in a CPZ, and a vehicle blocks your dropped kerb, call Parking Services on 01908 223505 (8.45am to 5.15pm, Monday to Friday - at all other times please leave a voice message).

If your driveway is blocked outside office hours, call the police on 101.

What we'll do

If we have the permit holder's telephone number we'll ask them to move it. Otherwise, we will write to them.

Repeat offenders may have their permit removed.
