Parking bay suspensions

Parking bay suspensions

In some circumstances it is possible to reserve specific parking bays in a Controlled Parking Zone or on an ‘on-street’ pay and park bay. For example, for utilities works or house removals.

A suspension temporarily bans parking in a specific bay or part of a bay. This applies to all vehicles unless signs say otherwise.

Advanced warning must be given (when possible). Signs will be put up on the nearest sign or lamp posts to advise motorists of the suspension.

Works contractors should notify local residents by letter before the date of the suspension. Cones may be placed the evening before the suspension to prevent unauthorised parking.

Vehicles parked in a suspended bay during the specified times may receive a Penalty Charge Notice. But we do not have the power to remove vehicles.

Applying for a suspension

  • Each request is assessed individually. Please include full details.
  • The cost is £25 per bay per day
  • Applications should be submitted with at least two weeks’ notice. Emergency cases (such as a gas or water leak) may be accepted with less notice.
