Terms and conditions

  • Use this development opportunity to help support your club/organisation. The bursary is exclusively available to unpaid coach(es)/volunteer(s) associated with a Dacorum-based club/organisation where applicable are affiliated with an appropriate association, governing body, or professional organisation. 
  • The application amount is not below £100 and does not exceed £500.
  • Club/organisation can apply for a Small and Community Grant in conjunction with the training bursary scheme.
  • If an application for funding is successful the club/organisation will be unable to reapply for funding from the bursary fund for a period of at least one year following a successful application (for example - if you receive £500 funding in 2024-2025, you will be unable to reapply until 2026-2027).
  • Applicants must meet age requirements as defined by the training/workshop provider.
  • A 30 per cent match funding contribution is required from the club/organisation/volunteer. Proof of this contribution must be provided at the time of application (see below)
  • Bursary funds are paid directly to the training qualification/workshop provider, awarding body, or associated club/organisation. No payments will be made to individuals.
  • The club/organisation must submit an evaluation report, including any case studies (minimum 1) and photographs, within 12 months of attending the training/development course.
  • Give the appropriate period of cancellation notice as required by the course organiser, if unpaid coach(es)/volunteer(s) is/are unable to attend (This will prevent any cancellation charges from being applied to you).
  • Assume liability for the full course fee if coach/volunteer fail to turn up/complete the course.
  • The bursary cannot be used for training costs related to elite athletes, or for expenses not directly associated with the professional development of coach(es)/volunteer(s).
  • Once training is completed the club/organisation must email a copy of the completed training.

Applicants will need to supply (via email to grants@dacorum.gov.uk):

  • Details about the training qualification/workshop they intend to take. 
  • Evidence of the required 30 per cent match funding. 

They will also need to confirm (via email) that they have the following documents:

  • Public Liability Insurance Certificate
  • Confirmation email of Enhanced DBS if working with children or vulnerable adults
  • Constitution/Governing Document/Letter of endorsement (as applicable)
  • Safeguarding Policy certificate (dated within one year)
  • Club/organisation recent bank statements.
