Report a change

If anything changes in your household, income, or personal situation, please let us know right away. These changes might affect your Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support.

Completing this service will take around 10 minutes.

You will need:

  • The claimant's name and address
  • The claim reference number
  • The claimant's National Insurance Number
  • Proof of the change (see below for more info)

Report a change of circumstances

Changes you need to tell us about

Your income and capital (you and your partner)

  • If you start or stop receiving Universal Credit, Income Support, Job Seeker's Allowance (JSA), Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Pension Credit
  • If someone you look after stops getting Attendance Allowance
  • If you start or stop receiving any other benefits
  • If you start or stop work
  • If the number of hours you work changes
  • If your savings increase or decrease
  • If you stop receiving Child Benefit for any of your children.

People who live with you

  • If a new child is born
  • If anyone moves in or out of your home (even temporarily)
  • If someone you live with dies
  • If anyone aged 18 or over starts or stops working

Your rent or where you live

  • If you move house
  • If your rent increases or decreases

Other changes

  • If you or your partner go into hospital
  • If you get married or register a Civil Partnership
  • If you or your partner will be outside of the UK for four weeks or more
  • If you or your partner will be living away from your normal home in the UK for 13 weeks or more

How to provide proof

When you report a change in your circumstances, you need to provide proof of that change.

Using our online form

  • You can upload scanned or photographed documents directly using our online form.
  • Make sure the document or photo is less than 20MB in size.

Sending proof later

If you don’t have proof ready when you fill out the online form, you can send it to us later:

  1. Email: Send your proof to benefits@dacorum.gov.uk. Include your claim reference number or your name and address in the subject line.
  2. Post: Send your documents to: Benefits, The Forum, Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire HP1 1DN
  3. In person: Bring your proof to one of our customer service centres. You’ll need to make an appointment to do this.
