Home energy efficiency grants and funding
Great British Insulation Scheme
You may be able to get free or discounted home insulation if your home:
- has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) of D to G - check your EPC
- is in Council Tax bands A to D - check your Council Tax band
Homeowners, landlords and tenants (either renting privately or from a housing association) can apply.
Please note: If you’re a tenant, speak to your landlord first. You’ll need their permission before installing any insulation.
Boiler Upgrade Scheme
Upgrade your home's heating with a £7,500 heat pump grant.
Heat pumps are an efficient, eco-friendly way to heat your home. They work like a fridge in reverse, taking heat from the air or ground - even in freezing weather - and using it to provide heating and hot water. Properly installed, they’re as quiet as a standard boiler.
The Government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme offers homeowners a £7,500 grant to help cover installation costs. You’re eligible if:
- You own the property
- You have a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)
- You are replacing a fossil fuel heating system such as gas, oil, electric, or LPG.
Benefits of a heat pump
- Stay warm all year round, even in freezing weather
- Lower your heating bills and save money every year
- Cut your carbon emissions by up to 70 per cent
