Get involved

Have your say, influence our services and make a difference

To get involved and make a difference, you don’t need any previous experience. You just need to be enthusiastic and to care about improving the services that affect you, and other tenants and leaseholders.

Our Tenants and Leaseholders are why we’re here. By knowing what matters to you and what isn’t working so well helps us improve our services and focus on the things that count.

We want our services to be the best that they can be, and we’re always trying to make them even better. We want you to help us to do this. Please see our  Menu of Involvement (PDF 2.5MB) for more information about the different ways you get involved with us.

If you would like to know more, please email talk-to-us@dacorum.gov.uk

Repairs satisfaction survey

In 2021, we launched a satisfaction survey for responsive repairs. Shortly after your housing repair is completed, we will send you a link by email or text message. If we don't have these details on your tenancy record, please contact us to add your current mobile phone number and/or email address so that you can tell us what you think about the service you receive.

As always, we will never pass your information outside the housing service or ask for any financial details. The results of this survey will help us to improve services.

If you have any queries, please email talk-to-us@dacorum.gov.uk

Tpas - Pro Landlord Accreditation

Our approach to tenant engagement led to us becoming the first landlord in the country to achieve the Tpas (Tenant Participation Advisory Service) Pro Landlord Accreditation. We continue to use Tpas as a source of expertise when developing new methods of resident engagement such as scrutiny boot camps.

  • Supported Housing Forum

The Supported Housing Forum (SHF) has changed over the years and is now a body that looks at issues affecting the whole of the Supported Housing service.

The SHF considers key issues that have an effect on Supported Housing residents across the borough, but may occasionally, in exceptional circumstances, discuss issues that impact on only one or two of the schemes, or on the wider population, particularly those aged 60 and over.

It is not a place to bring individual scheme issues to, unless they have already gone through all formal procedures to try to resolve them without reaching an agreed outcome. We encourage tenants to raise scheme-specific issues at the Tenant Information Meetings (TIMs), which we hold at each Supported Housing Scheme.

The SHF currently comprises 13 representatives, who come from different Supported Housing accommodation settings within Dacorum.

If you have an issue you believe should be discussed by the SHF, but you don’t know any of the representatives, you can contact us by:

    How to get involved

If you'd like to get involved, please speak to your supported housing officer or email talk-to-us@dacorum.gov.uk.

  • Focus groups

We run regular focus groups to review and improve our services.

These sessions are informal and enjoyable, and give you the opportunity to have your say on new ideas or ways of working.

These are currently taking place via video/web conferencing app Zoom, and are held at a time convenient for the attendees, enabling everyone to take part.

If you would like to take part or know more, please email talk-to-us@dacorum.gov.uk.

  • Block Champions

If you live in a Dacorum Borough Council-managed block of flats, maisonette or sheltered housing then our new Block Champions initiative gives you the opportunity to become a more active voice in your community. You'll be able to inspect and report any issues you notice in your immediate locality and report these back to us. • Dacorum Online Training (DOT)

Dacorum Online Training (DOT) is an online portal that provides free training and wellbeing courses for both existing tenants and housing applicants. Find out more.

  • Resident Scrutiny Boot Camps

Resident Scrutiny Boot Camps are informal online events in which a group of Dacorum’s residents and staff get together to scrutinise a service. During the session you will look at performance information and may receive a presentation from staff about a service. You'll then get the opportunity to talk about your experiences and ideas for improvement in small groups.

By the end of each session, you will have a list of recommendations for change, which is then worked on by our staff. You'll then be invited to follow-up sessions to monitor the agreed recommendations and find out how we are putting them in place. View our latest scrutiny reports below:
