                    Cycle Strategy for Dacorum (2009)
                    October 2009We encourage the provision of adequate cycle parking, according to standards defined in the Local Plan, at educational establishments, retail centres, public transport interchanges, leisure facilities, and other major journey hubs. Employers will be encouraged to provide cycle parking through the Dacorum Green Business Club. The intent of this policy is to seek to ensure that provision is made for cycle facilities at existing locations, to the same standard as would currently be required at similar new developments. Our main role in promoting cycling provision will be through publicity, ensuring provision of facilities through development proposals, and working with other bodies with appropriate resources for the provision of cycle facilities.                     Urban Design Assessment 2010
                    January 2006 - amended and reprinted 2010The Urban Design Assessment was completed in January 2006. The study covers the borough's three towns (Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted and Tring) and three large villages (Markyate, Bovingdon and Kings Langley). A strategy plan and set of settlement principles are provided for each of the towns and villages. These define the broad "Urban Design Zones" into which the settlements have been sub-divided. These Urban Design Zones have been created on the basis of existing characteristics, reflecting the morphology, density and typologies of each area, and an understanding of how these areas should be viewed in the light of any potential development or regeneration of the zone. Key 'gaps' in the coverage of existing Local Plan policies and supplementary guidance are highlighted and suggestions made as to how these could be addressed through the new Local Development Framework.
