Changes to parking charges and restrictions in Council car parks
20 March 2025
We will be implementing changes to parking charges across all council car parks on Monday 31 March 2025.
The following will also apply:
- Short stay car park sessions now have a minimum stay of 2 hours
- Long stay car park sessions now have a maximum stay of 10 hours
- Parking charges apply from 8am to 6pm (Monday to Sunday) for both on-street and in car parks.
- Customers can now extend a parking session using the PayByPhone app or the payment machines (as long as this does not exceed the maximum permitted stay).
- There will be no changes to existing parking arrangements for blue badge holders.
There are also alterations to specific car parks and on-street parking bays:
- Charges have been introduced on Limited Wait Bays in the centre of Tring High Street, Kings Langley High Street and Prince Edward Street, Berkhamsted.
- Car parks at The Nap and Langley Hill in Kings Langley and Canal Fields in Berkhamsted remain free of charge but are limited to a maximum stay of 4 hours (no time restriction between 6pm and 8am). A session must be registered with either the payment machine or PaybyPhone.
- The Water Gardens north upper deck car park is now open for the public to pay and park from Monday to Sunday, 8am to 6pm.
- Dacorum Way car park has reopened and parking restrictions will be enforced. Payment must be made by PaybyPhone only (no cash or card payments available).
- Pay-to-park bays in the centre of Berkhamsted, Kings Langley, Tring and Waterhouse Street and Marlowes in Hemel Hempstead now have a maximum 1 hour stay.
- On-street public parking bays in Controlled Parking Zones in Hemel Hempstead Town Centre (Alexandra Road, Cemetery Hill, St John’s Road, Cotterells and London Road) now have a maximum stay of 2 hours.
A full list of parking charges and restrictions will be published on our website on 31 March 2025.
