Homelessness Prevention Grant
We've received a top-up from the Government towards the Homelessness Prevention Grant - Winter 2021 COVID-19 rent arrears financial support. The purpose of this one-off payment is to support low-income private renters with COVID-19-related rent arrears to avoid eviction or find a new home where necessary in order to prevent homelessness, with local authorities able to target funding to those who need it most and help them to get back on their feet. The only criteria is that the landlord would need to confirm that they would not continue with the eviction process once the arrears are paid.
For more information, please email the Homeless Prevention Team on firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01442 228000.

Emergency and temporary accommodation
If we cannot prevent you from becoming homeless, we may provide temporary accommodation. We will work to make sure that you are placed in a property that is considered suitable for your needs. This may be a room in shared accommodation, a bedsit, a flat or a house. The type depends on demand at the time of homelessness, and where there is a vacancy.
When we provide you with temporary accommodation, this does not guarantee that you will be offered a permanent council or housing association home. You should look for your own accommodation, as well as applying for social housing. We may offer you a suitable private rented home to meet your housing need.
You can find more info in our Temporary Accommodation Guide (PDF 402KB).
