Successful group-buying solar scheme makes welcome return

A popular group-buying scheme for solar panels and battery storage is back for 2025. Solar Together Hertfordshire helps homeowners feel confident that they are paying the right price for a high-quality installation.

From today (Monday 27 January 2025), residents in Dacorum and throughout Hertfordshire can register free of charge for the scheme, with no obligation to proceed with an installation. The registration window will close on Friday 4 April 2025.

More than 5,500 residents across Hertfordshire registered for Solar Together in 2023, including 829 from Dacorum. The Dacorum residents who installed solar panels are expected to reduce their carbon emissions by 3,658 tonnes over the next 25 years, while also saving money on their energy bills.

Solar Together Hertfordshire, powered by iChoosr and supported by Dacorum Borough Council alongside the Hertfordshire Climate Change and Sustainability Partnership, aims to make purchasing solar panels, battery storage and electric vehicle charge points more accessible and affordable than buying individually. By participating in the scheme, residents will be introduced to a list of pre-approved, reputable installers.

To date, more than 16,480 solar panels have been installed across Hertfordshire through the scheme, leading to a reduction of 31,180 tonnes of carbon emissions over the next 25 years - equivalent to taking 17,000 cars off the road for that period.

Cllr Caroline Smith-Wright, our Portfolio Holder for Transformation, said: “With demand for solar panels growing, it’s wonderful to see the Solar Together scheme return. This is a great opportunity to combat rising energy prices by generating your own clean energy and increasing your independence from the national grid - a brilliant way to both save money on your energy bills and lower your carbon emissions. You'll also be getting the panels at a competitive price from a trusted supplier.”

Marie-Louise Abretti, Solar Together UK Business Manager, added: “With energy prices continuing to fluctuate, residents of Hertfordshire are looking for opportunities to reduce their carbon emissions, save on energy bills, and increase their independence from the grid. The Solar Together group-buying scheme offers a straightforward way to make an informed decision and to access a competitive offer from a trusted, vetted provider.”
