Tring

Tring High Street during the dayThe market town of Tring is in the north west of Dacorum. It is only 30 miles (50km) north west of London. The A41 trunk road gives access to the M25, with M1 and M40 within easy reach. Even though it's surrounded by countryside, London is within an hour’s rail journey.

Tring High Street is a hive of activity with many traditional and specialist shops. A general market takes place every Friday, and there's a farmers' market fortnightly on a Saturday. A town centre-based auction house holds fortnightly auction sales of furniture and general effects, which are very popular and bring many visitors to the town.

The town stands at a meeting of the ways - the prehistoric Icknield Way crosses the Roman Akeman Street.

Perhaps because of the beauty of the surroundings, modern Tring has retained its charm and character, and remains a pleasant and fulfilling place in which to live, work, shop or rest.
