Queen's Platinum Jubilee

Platinum Party in the Park in Gadebridge, Hemel HempsteadThousands of you joined us over the bank holiday weekend (Thursday 2 June to Sunday 5 June 2022), at a series of events to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee - which marks Her Majesty The Queen's 70 years of service.

The festivities began with a tree planting in Reith Fields, behind Queen's Square in Adeyfield, on the Thursday as part of the Queen's Green Canopy planting initiative.

This was followed in the afternoon by a Trooping the Colour parade along the Old Town in Hemel Hempstead and into Gadebridge Park, which kickstarted our Platinum Party in the Park. On a beautiful sunny day, the park was packed for this free event, which featured live music, dance performances and comedy routines, plus balloon modelling, face painting, stilt walkers and caricaturists. The Splash Park was open and T Smiths Fun Fairs were also in attendance for some added excitement.

Friends and families enjoyed a day of picnicking, as well as sampling the various food and drink outlets present, and the day culminated with the lighting of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacon and a spectacular firework finale.

On the Saturday, we brought a big screen to Gadebridge Park for an afternoon of family movies, including The Queen's Corgi, BFG and The Greatest Showman sing-a-long. This well attended event was rounded off by a live screening of the Platinum Party at the Palace from Buckingham Palace.

As well as our events, communities across the borough came together to share food and fun as part of The Big Jubilee Lunch.
